These Noise paintings suggest archival carvings, natural landscapes, and celestial bodies. They explore the mortality of civilisations, immortality, and intangibility of nature and the beyond. Noise within the painting suggests our finite perception of the infinite. The concept of noise originated from Soren Kierkegaard’s “Freedom and Anxiety”; where the unlimited freedom of an individual can be daunting, like noise in a digital image. In the paintings, this noise is juxtaposed with archetypal carvings, worn symbols, mapping, and cartography. Foam Boards showcase outcomes and tools of the painting process as complete paintings, independent of its canvas counterparts.
